Touching Vision/2018/ Choreographic research on vision, touch and place of voulnerability

9 years ago, as a young graduated artist I had a chance to work with people who did not see.  I was leading art and sculpture courses for them. I could not explain how I was touched by the state of presence, honesty, and creativity they were bringing up to the space and to their work. Somehow, because the vision is such a strong sense for me, as well as the touch and all the sensations that comes from it: through skin or through inner body physical places, I wanted deeply to continue by bringing that idea on the stage in the shape of a Dance and Visual Performance.

Thanks to Labor Manifest#6, which took place in Südufer in Freiburg, I could partially try out few things, were I could explore an idea to work with not seeing artists, as well as seeing dancers, performers, that can embody the state of being blind…

choreography: katarzyna brzezinska invited artists/performers: Ewa Sawicka dancers/performers/participants of LM#8 and of the research: Shahar Dagan, Sarantoula Sarantaki, Zina Vaessen, Lisa Kilngerhoffer, Irrene Carreno, Zack Berndstein, Susana Grob
